Hi! My name is Mary Mitchell, and I am super excited and passionate about helping women live a healthy, happy, vibrant life. Having struggled with my own poor body image, never feeling good about the way I looked and felt, I tried many different ways to lose weight and to feel better about myself and in my health. Even as a teenage girl I tried several different diets, diet pills, programs, and tried exercising, all to no avail. My weight suffered, my health suffered, and I developed a very unhealthy relationship around food and I hated to exercise. I was overweight, I felt sluggish, I had brain fog, and was just so unhappy in my life and with the world around me. It took me a while to figure out I was making this whole diet & lifestyle WAY TOO HARD, and was making myself absolutely miserable in the process. Sound familiar to you?
What I learned is that DIETS DON’T WORK!
Well, let’s put it this way…diets work in the beginning, right? You start a new diet, lose 30-40 lbs. and can keep it off for maybe 6 months...possibly a year. Then here is the sad part… we always gain it all back, and then some, and then we’re worse off than when we started! So then, we must look for the next “great diet”. The diet that is going to make us thin and solve all our problems. Only to have it happen again! It becomes an almost never-ending vicious cycle and ends up doing us so much more harm than good.
Putting the Pieces Together to Live a Vibrant Life
It took me a long time to put all the pieces of the puzzle together, but I finally did. I am now 48 years old; I have lost over 40 lbs. and I have kept it off for 20 years! I can honestly say I am not only 20 lbs. thinner, but I have more energy, a better mood, I get good sleep, I have more muscle mass, and I am stronger and healthier… mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I always thought that you just naturally got “fatter” as you got older, but it doesn’t have to be that way! This is why I created Vibrant Life, LLC, a certified and professional health coaching service for individuals seeking to improve their health, diet, lifestyle and just looking for more than that vicious cycle diet roller-coaster; Individuals looking for a lifestyle change, something that will work for them once-and-for all so they can get out there, look and feel their best, and live a vibrant life.
Helping Menopausal Women Feel Better
My greatest area of interest and work is with women in and around the menopausal years. I chose this area because this is a very neglected area of health and wellness as it relates to lifestyle. I feel like so many women are just left to “suffer” the effects of menopausal weight gain, low energy, poor mood, poor sleep, hot flashes, night sweats, and so on. Many women just give up. They decide that this is just the way it’s going to be, and think “I might as well just get used to it”. Those menopausal women settle for so much less than what that can have. I am here to tell you that as a menopausal woman, you can look better! You can feel better! You can lose weight! You can sleep better! You can have more energy!
I Became a Certified Health Coach
I chose to become a Certified Health Coach so that I could specifically work with this beautiful group of women that are suffering with menopause to show them that there is help and there is hope! I became a Certified Integrative Health Coach, and pursued specializations from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) in Fitness and Nutrition and in Women’s Fitness and Nutrition. But what I found when it comes to women’s health and wellness, especially as it pertains to menopause is that there is so much more at play than just diet and exercise alone! So, I began looking for more answers. I pursued specializations in Women’s Health & Hormones; Emotional Eating; Digestive Health, and to help me do better in working with my clients I even pursued specialization in advanced coaching skills. This journey of finding answers for the women I love and work closely with has all led to that and more! Here at Vibrant Life, LLC, I do Health Coaching, Hand & Foot Reflexology, Facial Cupping Massage, Rebounder Training (exercising on a mini trampoline) all to help women in those menopausal years. In my blogs I will be writing about and detailing all the missing pieces for women’s health and wellness.
